Gael Chilson has been practicing astrology for over 40 years and is a Certified
Shamanic Astrologer through the Turning of the Ages Mystery School.
In picking my first book on astrology off the shelf in 1969, Dane Rudyar’s The Astrology of Personality, I was awoken to this language of symbols, a particular lens through which I view myself and all the world about me. This language was at once so familiar I couldn’t help but think I must have used it in one or many previous lives. However, it was the experience of living the language, of immersing myself in it, that has taught me it’s meaning.
The symbols have come alive for me through direct experience – seeing what happens as planetary transits impact my chart as well as those close to me and those for whom I’ve done readings over the years, as well as the interaction between people who act as triggers for each others planetary placements.
Having been a theater major in college, astrodrama appealed to me. In astrodrama we play the role of the planets in people’s charts using costumes when possible. In 1986, shortly after I returned to my family home south of Tucson, I joined the Tucson Astrologer’s Guild and became one of the Astroplayers, a group formed out of members who enjoyed the improvisational acting in astrodrama and even performed a few written scripts for community cable programming and UAC, based on astrology. What fun that was and what a great way to experience astrology! Although I don’t have the opportunity to engage in it very often at present I still enjoy astrodrama and being an active member of the Tucson Astrologers’ Guild (currently serving on the steering circle).
There have been many teachers that I have learned from over the years as well as my peers. Having a language in common brings us into contact with others who share this language. This thread led me at last to Daniel Giamario, a man with a chart very much like mine, born only three days before me, who had embarked on his own visioning of astrology. The way he incorporated the experience of the night sky particularly spoke to me, perhaps reminding my unconscious self of those lifetimes of ritual and ceremony under the night sky and at the yearly turning points, of sunrises and sunsets devoted to the equinoxes and solstices. The mystery and magic of life speaks through this connection of earth and sky. To become more self aware cannot help but include the awareness of our greater self, embodied in this connection. I love to watch the unfolding scenarios night after night as the planets transit through the zodiacal constellations, to see the contact they have with regal stars; the metering of energy marked by the moon. Sharing this with others has become part of my path and since 1997 I have taught many night sky classes in the community near me as well as some classes in understanding astrological charts from a Shamanic Astrology viewpoint.
Daniel’s approach to working with a person’s chart spoke to me as well and I was the third person to officially become certified as a Shamanic Astrologer under Daniel’s mentoring process. To see ourselves as part of an ongoing process of growth and evolution rather than a fixed and fated life is what I see as Shamanic Astrology. To experience this life without all the cultural judgments and become more alive to our authentic selves is the purpose of Shamanic Astrology with which I feel aligned.
One other piece of my experiential process has been the ongoing practice of the Twelve Steps since October of 1990. The wisdom I have gained from this practice has allowed me to overcome the separation and dis-ease with which I felt plagued in my earlier years. I bring this experience to the reading as well. Come join me in weaving the thread through past, present and future with the help of the planetary cycles, finding yourself on the ever evolving spiral of spirit, becoming aware of the planetary dance you are the embodiment of. Heal the spirit that has felt lost and overwhelmed. Love the person you have been and are becoming.
Gael is also a certified practitioner and authorized independent instructor of Bio-TouchTM. She received her training from the International Foundation of Bio-Magnetics located in Tucson, Arizona, and opened her first office in August, 1996. This technique provided the foundation on which she had expanded in offering a full range of products and services. Being a distributor of Young Living Essential Oils is still part of her services.
Gael has been involved in natural healing for over 25 years, studying: aroma therapy, Vita Flex, nutrition and diet, preparing natural foods, herbology, Shiatsu, Reiki, Radionics and the use of the pendulum to gather information.
Gael holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. She has owned and operated several businesses including two small natural foods manufacturing businesses for which she designed and created the products. She is a native of Arizona and enjoys being active in the community. Gael is also an ordained minister and Revelator of the Church of Living Truth which is a healing ministry.
